There are two versions of the online catalog available for searching. At present, the telnet version is more powerful and accurate. From any of the library home pages, select the option that allows you to search via the telnet interface. The mouse cannot be used in the telnet interface. All selections must be made using the arrow keys or hot keys.
When you access the new online catalog, the first screen you see will look like this.

By pressing ENTER, you get to the first search screen. From here, you can select the type of search that you want to perform.

- Title Searching
- Browse Title, used when you know the exact title of the work for which you are searching.
- Keyword Title, used if you are unsure of the exact title, but have a fair approximation.
- Author Searching
- Browse Author, used when you are positive of the author's name.
- Keyword Author, used when you are unsure of the author's name or if you are dealing with a corporate or society author.
- Subject Searching
- Browse Subject, used when you know or can approximate the Library of Congress Subject Heading under which your subject can be found.
- Keyword Subject, used for a very general subject search.
- Keyword Searching
- Keywords is the best choice when dealing with conference literature. It allows you to enter words to be searched in any and all fields of the record indiscriminately.
- Expert Keyword Searching
- Expert Keyword allows you to search in multiple fields as well; however, this option allows you to specify the field in which each individual term should be located.
- Numeric Searching
- Numeric searching allows you to search by ISBN, ISSN, and call number, as well as many other numeric options.
