Locating Government Publications in Science and Technology: Technical Reports
- The National Technical Information Service (NTIS) is
the central clearinghouse for unclassified technical reports of government-sponsored
research.
- Technical reports document the progress of scientific research - both successful
and unsuccessful.
- Technical reports are released quickly, often without peer review or editing, so they
are more current sources of information than books or journal articles.
- Technical reports usually appear as part of a numbered series from the issuing federal
agency or government contractor.
